Choose The Right Device

First I would like to clarify that this is not a $3000 Snap on Solus Pro so if you think that this product is going to do as much as that you will be disappointed. Now if you are on a budget (If your poor, with little money for equipment) like me than let me go into some details. I have had Snap on diagnostic equipment for years and this will not compare to a Snap on product or in that same tier of diagnostic equipment. Maxicheck Pro is a mid grade scanner with many cool functions. If you want a serious or semi serious diagnostic tool than your spending no less than $1000 for something new.

What Do You Have When Receive It

For the price of this you will be getting all generic OBD2 reading and alot of manufacturer specific codes as more updates become available. It has a nice color screen and also has an SD card slot. It comes with an 8GB SD card but that is not enough memory because after you fully update your Maxicheck Pro you will have less than 1GB of memory free on the SD card. What I did and I recommend is ordering a 16GB or 32GB SD card. I purchased a Toshiba Exceria 16GB Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) Flash Card. Not only did the download take around 20 minutes my machine is pretty quick as compared to the card that comes with it stock.

Updates From Autel Website

I download the latest PC software from the Autel site. As far as more features it will do many things depending on the car and depending if Autel has released it on an update and this scanner works a little different as far as menus so you would need to fiddle with it continuously for at least a week to get the hang of it or you may become lost and discouraged by it.

Better Than a Code Reader

If you have or can get the money and are a serious automotive technician than I would but a Snap On diagnostic tool, yeah it hurts the pocket but that is what I would advise. For a serious technician Maxicheck Pro is a great back up scanner. For the DIY’er this is better than a generic code reader. For the mechanic that is an independent (works from home garage) this is also a great product. I am an automotive technician for 25 years and I would recommend this tool for guys on a budget that want a pretty descent diagnostic reader. DIY’ers this may be a little too much of a tool. I like this product I know and understand it will not compare to a high or mid level Snap On diagnostic tool but I have used it a lot so far and been very very happy with the way it works. It is just one step down from the Autel DS708. And I approve this message…lol. Seriously this tool is pretty cool. You will like it.
